How Private Jet Charter Works, Step by Step

Chartering a private jet is simpler than many people expect. You hire the whole aircraft for your journey, choose when it leaves, and fly from an airport close to where you need to be. Here is what happens, from the first call to wheels up.
1. Tell us the journey
Share where you want to go, when, how many people are travelling and any special requirements, such as pets, extra luggage or a tight connection. A rough idea is enough to start.
2. Receive options and a quote
We search a worldwide network of certified operators and come back, usually within the hour, with a short list of aircraft. Each option shows the aircraft, the operator, the schedule and the all-in price.
3. Confirm and pay
Once you choose, we send a charter agreement for your signature. Payment is typically made in advance of the flight, and we confirm everything in writing.
4. Fly
Arrive at the private terminal shortly before departure. There are no long queues and no crowded lounges: you meet your crew, board and go. Catering, ground transport and anything else you asked for will be ready.
What affects the price
- The aircraft. Larger and longer-range aircraft cost more per hour.
- Flight time and positioning. If the aircraft has to fly empty to collect you or return home, that time is usually part of the price.
- Fees and taxes. Landing, handling and parking fees, crew costs on multi-day trips, and applicable taxes.
- Timing. Peak dates and major events bring higher demand and less choice.
Questions worth asking
- Who is the operator, and what certification do they hold?
- What exactly is included in the price, and what would cost extra?
- What is the cancellation policy?
- Is Wi-Fi available on this aircraft and route?
- Is there an empty leg that fits my plans?
A note on how we work
Duke Jets is an air charter broker acting on your behalf. We do not own or operate aircraft. Every flight we arrange is operated by an FAA Part 135 or Part 121 operator, or the foreign equivalent, and we only work with operators that meet our standards. Our job is to find the right aircraft for you and to make the whole journey effortless.
